YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND A FORTUNE TO GET MARRIED
An Alternative Wedding Fayre in the Foyer atSt Polycarp's Church, Malin Bridge, from 12 noon to 4.00 pm on Saturday 14th February will trumpet the message that, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND A FORTUNE TO GET MARRIED"! That's good anytime and especially valuable during the current credit crunch!
Vicar the Revd Patrick Coghlan adds, "You don't need to spend years planning it either."
The Fayre will bring together under one roof all the details you need for a financially modest wedding.
Patrick Coghlan explains that weddings don't have to be the expensive and fashion-conscious extravaganza promoted by so many bridal magazines.
A wedding is above all a celebration of one couple's love and commitment to each other. The Church also offers the famous Marriage Preparation Course, helping to ensure that marriages last a lifetime.
He quotes a couple from last year who planned such a wedding:
"It was a wonderful family occasion with a reception at a parish hall."
A single mum with teenage daughters said, “Having a great wedding like this is a huge weight off my shoulders”.
Anyone considering marriage is welcome to browse among the ideas and facilities on offer at the Fayre. The result could be a saving of money - and the making of a wedding day.
There will also be a display of wedding dresses through the decades and an opportunity for those who married at St Polycarp's to look at their details in the Marriage register.
